Abstract Fiber Art inspired by Dreamcatchers and Suncatchers

Crochet designs featuring nettings and abstract shapes to capture negative thoughts and energies with plenty of open spaces to allow good energy to flow through to you as Dreamcatchers do.

Place these designs in a lighted window during daytime and enjoy the casted shapes that Suncatchers are known for, but in silhouette form instead of reflecting the colors that glass would give.

I create these by crocheting cotton thread over sisal twine.

The frame is made from vines harvested on my property and surrounding forests on the tropical island where I live. I clean the vines in the stream, wrap them tightly into a wreath and them dry naturally in the sun for 2weeks until the wood hardens. While we are in rainy season here at the coffee farm, we don’t get consistent sun, so I utilize our commercial drying beds which Greatly speeds up the drying process. Once fully dried, the vine wreaths are then coated with a food grade poly acrylic sealant to maintain longevity and discourage deteriorating.
